Denise
McGill’s tender photographs of Zimbabwean people
living with AIDS were commissioned by the International Mission
Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. Denise has said of these
photographs, “I have always hoped that my photography
would be a blessing to those who see it and to those who are in
the photos. This is the first time I felt the act of taking photos
was directly ministering to anyone.” We thank the
IMB for allowing us to share Denise’s work with our
readers; they are the first 10 images in this gallery.
Karen Soleau’s
exuberant work has graced the pages of this journal several times
before; this time, she’s given us two collage-like pictures,
image 11 and image
12.
RoJean Madsen
took a photojournalistic trip to Pet’s Rest Cemetery in
Colma, California, where she met Jennifer, who has visited the
grave of her beloved little dog twice a week for two years, and
whose portrait appears as image 13.
“Perhaps this spiritual practice accounts for the purity
of heart I saw in her face,” says RoJean.
